Zenyatta Takes The Win!

Of course with the pink & green silks there was no way she would loose!

I happened to catch the running of the 2009 Breeders Cup on Saturday night, what a magnificent race! The Beautiful Zenyatta is owned by Jerry & Ann Moss trained by John Shirreffs. Zenyatta came into the race undefeated with a 13 in 13 record and was the only female to race against the colts. The race started off a little hairy as the horses were loaded into the gate Quality Road decided he did not want to race that day and threw quite a fit which resulted in the first ever scratch in the history of the race. With everyone finally loaded in the gate the race started with a slow break for Zenyatta and her running dead last for the the first part of the race. Then Mike Smith let her loose on the outside and she roared past the boys to take the win on link ahead of Gio Ponti. She is the first female ever to win the cup. She gets my vote for horse of the year, brilliant performance!

  1. That was an amazing race. That performance certainly may earn her Horse of the Year. Between Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra, it's been the year of the ladies, hasn't it?
