Waspy Weekend

Working 6 days a week does not give me much opportunity to get out of town for the weekend. However, every saturday morning on my way into work I like to think about all the places I could be driving to for a weekend get away, if I had the time and the means (it also helps keep me sane). So this weekend is looking beautiful here in New England and on just about any gorgeous day I always wish I was still living in Newport, RI. There is just something about this place that is so magical to me. Its the only place I have  ever really felt at home and the only place I have missed when I left.

I absolutely love to drive, I don't know why but there is something about being in the car that I have always liked. I also love beautiful vintage cars ( I know nothing about them mechanical wise but I love the look and feel of them) So lets indulge for a moment. shall we?

1975 Mercedes Benz 450 SL Convertible
This is an absolute beauty and I love the color.
I am imaging driving down Rt. 24 top down with this little Van Morrison (Love his music!)  play list blaring on the stereo.

  1. you'd have to pry my fingers off of the steering wheel if that was my ride and those were my tunes!

  2. When I was 18 I got the family car, a 1967 230 (?) MB... It was charcoal gray with white pleather (!!) interior. It had the huge rounded grill on the front and slight fins on the back. She was chic and stylish and it was all mine! Best part is that I was in Newport during the summers living with my parents and working the tournaments at the Hall of Fame... Everyone knew that was MY car... how I miss my car! It's still in Newport. My parents sold it in 1997 to someone who was able to restore her to her old glory! I remember blaring Steve Winwood's Back in the High Life Again and Don Henley's Boys of Summer... good times!!
